A nice ecological park to explore in Varadero is Varahicacos Ecological Reserve. This can also be identified as Cueva de Ambrosio or Sendero a Cueva Musulmanes. I don’t know why it has so many names. We walked to it from Melia Las Antillas. The Hop On Hop Off bus can also take you there or a taxi. This park had lots of caves to explore and an archaeological dig site. It gives you a good idea of what a Cuban forest/jungle really looks like. Be sure to wear sturdy footwear- the rocks are sharp. There was a nice cold beer at the booth after we were done. The cost was 5 CUC. This is a self-guided tour with lots of signs.
