Adventures to have and places to see

White-tailed deer Underwood 2019

One night we were sitting outside at the point and noticed a doe cautiously crossing the field to the east. We don’t usually see deer at that time of day. The camera was in the house and we decided to try and get some pictures. The doe didn’t run away but instead wandered down to the area where we keep beehives in our front yard. The grass is tall there and a wooden fence shelters the bees from the wind.

The next thing we know she emerges from the grass with a fawn! She must have had the fawn that day as she was still licking it, and the fawn was very hungry. We watched them for quite a while and then she took the baby out for a stroll. Eventually, they headed back to the woodlands in the South.
